Permission to visit Mr. Akbar Ganji, Teheran

Dear Mr. Ambassador, Your Excellency,

recognizing the current extremely bad health-situation of Mr. Akbar Ganji, who is by now 53 days in hunger strike, it is my attempt to visit him. I ask you to give me a permission by the Iranian Authorities to visit Mr. Ganji immediately in the hospital and to provide an ad hoc visa for the trip.

As the Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Iran, let me underline, that we are deeply concerned about the fact, that Mr. Ganjis lawyer is not allowed to contact him. Due to our knowledge, Mr. Ganji is in risk to loose his life in no time.

There is the expectation on our side, that the newly elected president will bring the Islamic Republic of Iran further towards democracy and human rights. This should end any pressure and punishment against Mr. Ganji and other political Activists in your country.
